For video podcasts and interview shows

Podcast clips service: your episodes, cut into YouTube Shorts.

You already record long, good conversations. I find the 30 seconds in each episode that stand on their own, open them on a full sentence that hooks in 2 seconds, keep the speaker framed in 9:16, add captions, and send you MP4s ready to upload. Start with one free Short from your own episode.

Free sample, no card needed. If you like it, 5 Shorts cost $50.

  • Speaker framed 9:16
  • Captions + key word
  • 25–35s
  • MP4, ready to upload
Why podcasts

Why most podcast episodes never become Shorts

It's rarely a lack of material. A single interview usually holds several moments worth posting. The work of getting them out is what stalls.

Length

An hour of tape, 30 seconds needed

Finding the moment means rewatching the whole episode after you've already recorded, edited and published it. That's the step that gets skipped.

Layout

Two cameras, Zoom tiles, wide shots

A 16:9 frame with two people side by side doesn't survive a straight crop to vertical. Each Short needs a vertical frame built around one speaker.

Guests

The best line isn't always yours

On interview shows the strongest answer usually comes from the guest, mid-conversation, after a long question. It has to start cleanly without the setup.

Captions

Many people scroll with the sound off

Talk without captions gets scrolled past. Phrase captions timed to the voice, with one key word highlighted, make the point readable at a glance.

The cut

How I turn a podcast episode into Shorts

I pick every moment myself and hold every Short to the same standard, whether it comes from a solo episode or a two-person interview.

Moment

One idea that stands alone

A claim, a number, a story beat or a straight answer that a stranger understands without hearing the rest of the episode.

Hook

Starts on a full sentence

No mid-word cuts and no "so, yeah" before the point. The first 2 seconds say why the next 30 are worth watching.

Framing

The speaker stays in frame

Reframed to 9:16 to keep the speaker's face in frame. For multi-person shots, I frame each clip on the person making the point, so you see a face, not a letterboxed wide shot of a table and two microphones.

Length

25–35 seconds, captioned

Long enough to land the idea, short enough to watch to the end. Captions are burned in, and the MP4 is ready to upload as a Short.

Business and finance shows

Built first for business, finance and interview podcasts

Conversation-driven shows are where this works best: the talking carries the video, and one sharp answer can make sense on its own.

  • Numbers and claims: a figure, a rule of thumb or a contrarian take, with the key word highlighted in the captions so it reads on mute.
  • Founder and operator lessons: the moment a guest explains what they'd do differently, cut so it starts on the lesson, not on the question.
  • Clear answers to common questions: the 30 seconds your audience would search for, lifted out of minute 47.
  • Small and steady channels: it fits best if you publish long episodes regularly but post few or no Shorts yet.

These are the kinds of moments I look for, not results from past clients. I'm taking on my first podcast channels now, so the free sample is the honest way to see what your show looks like as Shorts.

FAQ

Podcast Shorts questions

Can you cut Shorts from a two-camera or two-person podcast?

Yes. I work from the episode as it's published on YouTube. Each Short is framed 9:16 on the person making the point, so their face stays in frame instead of a shrunk-down wide shot. The frame stays on that one person for the whole clip; it doesn't cut back and forth between speakers or split the screen. It works best when one person carries the moment, and your free sample shows how your layout comes out.

My show is recorded on Zoom, Riverside or StreamYard. Does that work?

Yes, as long as the episode is on YouTube. Remote recordings give each person a smaller tile, so a vertical crop can look softer than a studio camera. That's exactly what the free sample is for: you see your own footage cut before you decide.

Will the Shorts feature me or my guests?

Whoever says the strongest self-contained line. On interview shows that's often the guest's answer. If a guest should be featured, or left out, say so in the note on the form.

Can I choose the moments?

Yes. Add timestamps in the note (for example 12:40) and I'll start there. If you don't, I pick moments where one complete idea lands in 25–35 seconds and the first sentence can hook in 2 seconds.

How many Shorts can one episode give me?

It depends on the episode. A long conversation often has several moments that work on their own. When you order a batch, send as many episode links as you like, and I'll tell you if I need more source material to fill it.

Do you need my raw files or access to my YouTube channel?

No. I only need the YouTube link to the episode. I send back MP4 files, and you upload them yourself, on your schedule.

Do you edit full episodes too?

No. Vertical Cuts only cuts Shorts from episodes you've already published. Your long-form edit stays as it is.

Is the free sample really free?

Yes. One Short, cut from an episode you choose, with no card and no obligation.

How does payment work?

The sample is free. After that, payment is upfront per batch: 5 Shorts for $50, 10 for $90 or 20 for $150. Once you pick a batch, I'll email you the payment details.

Who does the work?

Me, Antonio Pulido, in Miami. I cut every Short myself, and you'll hear from me directly at hello@verticalcut.app.
